Install Docker & Docker-Compose on Linux Mint19

A quick, no frills, ultra fast way to install Docker and Docker-Compose on linux mint 19 a Debian based linux distribution

apt-get update

Allow APT to use HTTPS
sudo apt-get install \
apt-transport-https \
ca-certificates \
curl \
gnupg-agent \

Time to add the official GPG key of Docker into the APT keyring.
curl -fsSL | sudo apt-key add –

Verify key
sudo apt-key fingerprint 0EBFCD88

Edit the repositories list
sudo nano /etc/apt/sources.list.d/additional-repositories.list

Add the following line in the file and save it
deb [arch=amd64] bionic stable

Run APT update again
sudo apt-get update

Finally, install the latest version of Docker Community Edition, containerd, and docker-compose
sudo apt install docker-ce docker-ce-cli docker-compose

The docker group is created but no users are added. Add your user to the group as non-privileged user.
sudo usermod -aG docker $USER

Test the install by typing
sudo docker

You should now have a working Docker host machine
